1About these terms

These terms govern your use of the HomeForensicsAI website, accounts, assessments, reports and related services (the “service”), provided by HomeForensicsAI (“HFAI”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Our Privacy notice and Cookie notice explain how we handle personal information and form part of how the service operates.

In these terms, a “consumer” is an individual acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. A “business user” is anyone else, including landlords, agents, housing providers and other organisations.

2Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
• If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf, and the organisation is bound by them.
• You must give accurate information, keep your sign-in details confidential, and tell us promptly at contact@homeforensicsai.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
• You are responsible for activity carried out through your account, except where it results from our failure to take reasonable security measures.

3The service

HFAI is an AI-assisted service for capturing, assessing and documenting visual evidence of property issues. The service is currently offered as a beta: features, models and results may change as we develop it.

The service is currently free. We will not charge you unless separate paid terms are introduced and you explicitly agree to them through a clear purchase process. We may change, limit or withdraw free access, and will give reasonable notice where practicable.

4Important limitations

• Do not rely on HFAI as the sole basis for decisions about safety, structure, electrics, gas, fire, health, purchase, sale, letting, tenancy, insurance, legal action or repairs.
• If you suspect a hazard, contact a suitably qualified professional — and in an emergency, the relevant emergency service — without delay.
• Results depend on the photos provided. Poor lighting, glare, blur, framing or hidden defects can affect accuracy, and HFAI cannot detect what is not visible in an image.

5Your content

Ownership. You keep ownership of the photos, notes and other material you upload (“your content”).

Licence to provide the service. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, analyse and display your content as needed to provide, secure and support the service, including generating and verifying reports.

Licence to improve the service. For assessment content submitted on or after 24 September 2026, you also grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your content, in de-identified form where practical, to test, evaluate, train and improve HFAI's models and service. You may object to this use at any time as explained in our Privacy notice; we will then exclude that content from future training and improvement datasets. Images submitted through the Contribute Images programme are used for training only with your separate consent.

Your promises. You confirm that you own your content or have every permission needed to upload it and grant these licences, and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, privacy, confidentiality or other rights.

6Acceptable use

You must not:

• upload unlawful, harmful, misleading, infringing or malicious material, including malware;
• upload images of people or children, or personal information that is not needed for the assessment;
• test, probe or bypass our security, rate limits or access controls, or access areas you are not authorised to use;
• scrape, copy, reverse engineer or build a competing service from the service or its outputs, except where the law expressly allows;
• impersonate anyone, misrepresent a report, or interfere with other users; or
• use results to make unlawful or discriminatory decisions about any person.

7Reports and verification

You may keep and use reports generated from your content for your own lawful purposes, including sharing them with landlords, agents, contractors or advisers, provided the report's limitations are not removed or misrepresented.

Each report carries a reference and verification code. You must not alter a report and present it as genuine. Anyone can check a report's authenticity on our verification page; a report that fails verification should not be relied on.

8Our intellectual property

The service, including its software, models, design, branding and HFAI-created material, belongs to HFAI or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service in line with these terms. No other rights are granted.

9Availability and changes

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time. We may maintain, update, change or discontinue features. We will take reasonable steps to protect stored information and give notice of material changes where practicable.

We may update these terms. We will show the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the service or by email before they apply. If you continue to use the service after changes take effect, the updated terms apply; if you do not agree, you may stop using the service and close your account.

10Our liability

What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

If you are a consumer

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaching these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or for loss arising from relying on an AI result in place of appropriate professional advice, contrary to section 4. We provide the service for domestic and private use.

If you are a business user

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied terms, conditions and warranties, and we are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to a business user arising out of or in connection with the service in any 12-month period is limited to £100. Business users will compensate us for losses arising from their breach of section 5 or section 6.

11Suspension and closure

You may stop using the service at any time and close your account from the Account & Privacy page. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if needed to protect the service or other users, or where required by law. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.

Terms that by their nature should continue after closure — including those on content licences already used, record retention, intellectual property, liability and disputes — will continue to apply.

12Complaints and governing law

If you have a concern, please contact us first at contact@homeforensicsai.com so we can try to resolve it.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and the mandatory consumer protections of your home country continue to apply.

13General

• Entire agreement — these terms, with the notices they refer to, are the whole agreement between us about the service.
• Severability — if a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver — if we delay enforcing a term, we can still enforce it later.
• Transfer — we may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, and will ensure your rights are not reduced. You may not transfer yours without our consent.
• Third parties — no one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
